Stoke on Trent Sporting Stories Submission Criteria

  1. Your article or story is being submitted under your real name.

  2. The article or other writing that you are submitting is entirely your own original work: it is written by you and does not incorporate any material written by anyone else.

  3. If you have previously published your article elsewhere, you will provide details of where and when in the comments section of the submission form.

  4. You understand that each article submitted to Sporting Stories will be reviewed prior to publication and only those works deemed of sufficient interest and quality will be published on the website. Submitting an article to Sporting Stories does not guarantee publication.

  5. You grant Cox Bank Publishing Limited (the publisher of Sporting Stories) the non- exclusive right to publish your work on the Sporting Stories website and, if selected, in a book (or books) celebrating sport across Stoke-on-Trent. You will always be identified as the original author and copyright holder of your individual article.

  6. Cox Bank Publishing reserves the right to use your article in any sport-related book it develops in the future. As above, you will always be identified as the original author and copyright holder of your individual article.

  7. You further grant Stoke-on-Trent City Council the right to use your article or extracts from it for the purposes of the marketing and promoting of sport in Stoke-on-Trent.

  8. Sporting Stories does not request exclusive rights to your work you are free to publish it elsewhere as long as we are free to use it for the purposes set out here.

  9. Any proceeds from the sale of books or other materials incorporating your work will be used to support future sports-writing projects. Each book sold will generate a donation to an appropriate local charity supporting sport, children or health causes (chosen at the sole discretion of Cox Bank Publishing).

  10. You confirm that you understand that if Sporting Stories decides NOT to use your submission that decision will be final, and no appeals will be considered. Sporting Stories will not enter into any correspondence about or comment on individual submissions.

  11. By submitting an article, contributors agree to abide by these conditions.

  12. Sporting Stories reserves the right to amend these rules if it is deemed necessary to do so.

  13. Sporting Stories, Cox Bank Publishing and Stoke-on-Trent City Council cannot accept responsibility for any damage, loss, injury or disappointment suffered by any contributor.

  14. These conditions are governed by English law and any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.

  15. In accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998, entrants’ details will be held on a secure database by Cox Bank Publishing and will not be released to any third party without entrants’ explicit and written consent.
