The 2017 Cat & Fiddle Challenge:

Your story

To celebrate the Cat & Fiddle Cycle Challenge, Hanley-based social enterprise Cox Bank Publishing is producing a celebratory book on the event - written by you!  We got a great collection of stories from last year's Challenge but need a few more to complete a book: so get ready to put your stories of the day down on paper as soon as you can after completing the challenge...

Cox Bank Publishing are looking for short stories which capture your memories of the day (or of doing the event in previous years), your training mishaps or adventures, what inspired you to enter, who you're cycling with - anything and everything that captures the spirit of the Cat & Fiddle event. Spectators, the event organisers, volunteers and others will be contributing their words too, but you - the cyclists - are the ones out there taking on the challenge.  We'd love to hear your voice through your words and pictures (photos, drawings or paintings capturing your day are equally welcome). A 20-word poem is fine, or anything up to a 5,000-word story - it's up to you.

The best stories will be published in a Cat & Fiddle Challenge book.  Note that by "best" we mean funny, sad, thought-provoking, inspiring, memorable, or just plain entertaining - your words, about your experience. The book will go on sale as soon as we have enough stories and all proceeds will be donated to Cystic Fibrosis Care, the official charity for the event.

There’s more information about the book here, but if you want to know more, then contact Peter Hooper at
