Current volunteering opportunities
We’re now looking for volunteers in Stoke on Trent to work with us over the next few months, to help us collect stories about a wide range of sports and to help us engage with local clubs and community groups. If you have a favourite sport and would like the chance to engage more with it, then this is a great opportunity for you.
The help we’re looking for covers a mix of activities, from web-based research through to meeting local clubs and community organisations and attending local sports events. We need people who are comfortable in contacting and meeting new people, who have access to the internet and email, and have a good network of links in either a sporting or community context. We are looking in particular for individuals be our ‘sports correspondents’ (see list of sports below); and locally-based volunteers to be our 'community connectors’ (see list of localities below). Hours are flexible to suit our volunteers and their availability.
An interest in sport or activity generally will help, plus an enthusiasm for writing and other creative arts. A good local network of contacts in your chosen sport (or the ability to create one). Access to the internet and general IT skills essential, and good people skills.
Benefits to volunteer
As well as being able to do voluntary work linked to a sport or area you love, we’ll recognise you on our website and in any publications you help contribute to. Also, as a Cox Bank Volunteer you can elect to be automatically registered as a City of Sport volunteer and benefit from their support too, including formal recognition of the hours you spend with us.
Reasonable out of pocket travel expenses will be reimbursed.
Application by email to email@example.com, setting out the sport and/or area you’d like to be considered for and why you feel you would be a suitable candidate. Tell us a bit about your background and any relevant skills or knowledge you would bring to the role.
Based on your application we’ll invite selected applicants in for an informal interview at the Dudson Centre in Hanley and successful candidates will be informed as soon as possible after interview.
We will be recruiting volunteers on a rolling basis so welcome applications at any time. However, we have an immediate requirement and will fill each role as soon as we have identified the right candidate.
